PURPOSE, GOALS and FOCUS

Our purpose and goals are to bring about positive change for an under privileged community.  Our goals include: 1) increasing the graduation rate and number of students who graduate from high school through after-school enrichment and mentoring  2) empower families with housing education, decent and affordable housing for low-income and moderate income families, financial literacy, and civic responsibility through educational workshops and community speakers  3) promote and enhance sustainable households and economic independence, and 4) to meet the immediate basic needs of families seeking temporary assistance through our clothing closet and food pantry.  Pearl Street CDC, Inc. addresses healthy meals and hunger.  Monthly, the food pantry distributes food to needy families.  In addition, during the summer months, when school is out, we provide healthy and nutritious hot meals to children.

Our focus is to reach out into the community bring about positive change and develop respect for individuals with needs that are different from ones-self.  As we reach out to families, Pearl Street CDC, Inc. through diversity learns and understands the social needs, cultural values and beliefs of the various ethnic groups that reside in metropolitan Jackson.
